The boutique food and music festival – the Rock Oyster Festival - returns to the Camel Estuary near Rock in north Cornwall this June.
The Rock Oyster Festival aims to serve up some of the best of the west English county’s local foods with live music.
It’s a family-friendly festival in the grounds of Dinham House, and as well as food events and music it offers a full programme of activities for children.
Chefs taking part include:
- Stephane Delourme and David Sharland from Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant;
- James O’Connor from the St Moritz Hotel;
- Tom Scade from Tides at The Mariners, Rock;
- Andy Appleton, head chef at Fifteen Cornwall; and
- Paul Ainsworth who stars in the BBC TV programme Great British Menu.
Chefs will also take part in an oyster shucking competition, where they will race to prepare fresh oysters in the fastest time.
Bands include the Dub Pistols, who were voted the best live act of 2011 by DJmag, and the Mercury Prize-nominated band The Bees.
Event organiser Charlie Anderson says:
‘The Rock Oyster Festival is all about celebrating the delicious artisan-produced food and drink that we have here in Cornwall in a light-hearted and fun environment. We are making these amazing foods accessible to everyone – where else can you feast on a plate of food prepared by top chefs for a fiver?’
- The Rock Oyster festival takes place at Dinham House on 22–24 June.
- Weekend tickets cost £50, £10 for under-17s, under-4s free.
- ‘Rustic’ camping pitches cost £10 per adult for the weekend, children free.
