Freelance Contributions

We are happy to consider freelance Contributions (articles, etc), subject to the following general provisions:

Contributions must be your own/your company’s work (not infringing any other person’s or company’s copyright). Any infringing materials will be removed
GoUK.com reserves the right to edit or refuse any Contributions as GoUK.com sees fit (if Contributors object to the edited versions of Contributions, GoUK.com will happily remove them on behalf of the Contributors within five working days of receiving a written request, though GoUK.com cannot be held responsible for any content held in search engine records, cache, etc)
GoUK.com does not publish Contributions that promote hatred, prejudice, are libellous, etc
GoUK.com likes to have one photo to accompany each article that it publishes. Photos are published in compressed JPEG format at a maximum width of 470 pixels. If Contributors send larger photos, they will be cropped/resized as necessary. Any photos submitted must not infringe any other person’s or company’s copyright. When submitting photos, please clearly state any attribution that should appear in the tag line for the photo
Contributions may include links to external sites, though GoUK.com reserves the right to (1) vet the links to make sure they do not point to unsuitable sites, and (2) to remove any links that GoUK.com regards as unsuitable or excessive in number
GoUK.com does not offer financial remuneration for submitted Contributions, unless GoUK.com has specifically commissioned such Contributions with the Contributor by prior agreement
GoUK.com will send Contributors a link as soon as any article has been published and would be grateful if Contributors would promote that link via their social networking platforms
Contributors should note that the website carries advertising and affiliate links and that Contributions will be published alongside these
Contributors can send copy using the submissions form provided
GoUK.com does not accept Contributions in PDF format or as text embedded in images: GoUK.com only accepts text in editable formats that do not require re-typing
In submitting Contributions to GoUK.com, Contributors (1) attest that the Contributions are their own Contributions/that Contributors are the copyright holders or the licensed copyright holders of such Contributions, and (2) they give full and enduring consent for GoUK.com to edit, publish and use such Contributions on its website as it sees fit – please see the full Contributor’s Agreement below

Submitting Contributions to GoUK.com

If your Contribution is accepted for publication, GoUK.com Ltd will require the non-exclusive right to use or publish it in current and future GoUK.com print or electronic media, as outlined in the Contributor’s Agreement.

Feature Contributions may include a Contributor’s photo as part of the byline. If a photo is to be used, please submit it in publication quality along with your article (the publication of photos is at GoUK.com’s sole discretion).

All Contributions become the property of GoUK.com and will not be returned.

All Contributions sent to GoUK.com Ltd in any form whatsoever are subject to the following Contributor’s Agreement.

Contributor’s Agreement

GoUK.com Ltd (hereafter ‘GoUK.com Ltd’ ‘GoUK.com’ ‘GoUK’) may now or in the future permit user/users (hereafter ‘Contributor’, ‘Contributors’) to post, upload, transmit through, or otherwise make available on the site (collectively, ‘submit’) messages, articles, text, illustrations, files, images, graphics, photos, comments, sounds, music, videos, information, content, and/or other materials (‘Contributions’).
GoUK.com has the sole discretionary right to publish, edit or reject any Contributions that Contributors send to GoUK.com either via email, via the site, or via post for any purpose whatsoever, commercial or otherwise, without payment to the Contributors, unless GoUK.com has specifically agreed otherwise in writing with the Contributors prior to submission.
By submitting Contributions to GoUK.com in any form whatsoever, the Contributor warrants that he/she is the lawful Contributor (in any form whatsoever including Author, Writer, Copyright Holder, Rights Holder, Photographer, Artist, Artiste, Performer, Company Representative or provider of any other form of content or Contribution) of original material submitted to GoUK.com and hereby grants GoUK.com (i) the non-exclusive right to publish such Contribution, including the Contributor’s name, photo or likeness, (ii) the right to quote from the Contribution in any promotion, or (iii) the right to reprint and distribute the Contribution to third parties.
By submitting Contributions to GoUK.com, simultaneously with such submission the Contributor automatically grants to GoUK.com a worldwide, fully-paid, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, fully sub-licensable, and transferable right and licence to use, record, sell, lease, reproduce, distribute, create derivative works based upon (including, without limitation, translations), publicly display, publicly perform, transmit, publish and otherwise exploit the Contributions (in whole or in part) as GoUK.com in its sole discretion deems appropriate. GoUK.com may exercise this grant in any format, media or technology now known or later developed for the full term of any copyright that may exist in such Contributions. The Contributor relinquishes any claim to any monetary compensation GoUK.com may receive for such licence or sub-licence. The Contributor grants GoUK.com the right to archive published Contributions for retrieval by users of GoUK.com website(s) or publications.
Subject to the rights and licence the Contributor grants to GoUK.com under this Contributor’s Agreement, the Contributor retains all right, title and interest in his/her Contributions.
The term of this Agreement shall commence on the date of the first submission of a Contribution by the Contributor and continue in effect for all Contributions submitted, or until specifically cancelled in writing by GoUK.com or the Contributor, with or without cause.
The Contributor attests that this and all future Contributions are original and no other person(s) is/are contributing Contributor(s) who might have a claim affecting the free publication of the submitted Contributions. The Contributor states that he/she has the full right, power and authority to execute this Agreement and to grant the rights outlined herein. The Contributor warrants that he/she has used reasonable care to ensure the truth of all statements and facts quoted or used and that the Contribution and its contents are not defamatory, do not violate any confidentiality agreements, and do not contain anything unlawful.
The Contributor agrees that he/she will not submit any Contributions protected by copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, moral right, or other intellectual property, personal, contractual, proprietary or other right owned by a third party without the express permission of the owner of the respective right. The Contributor is solely liable for any damage resulting from his/her failure to obtain such permission or from any other harm resulting from Contributions that the Contributor submits. The Contributor attests, warrants and covenants that the Contributor will not submit any Contributions that:
- violate or infringe in any way upon the rights of others, including, but not limited to, any copyright, trademark, moral right, or other third party right of any person or entity;
- impersonate another or is unlawful, threatening, abusive, libellous, defamatory, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, obscene, harassing or otherwise objectionable;
- contain a formula, instruction, or advice that could in any way cause harm or injury;
- the licensed use by GoUK.com hereunder would result in GoUK.com having any obligation or liability to any party.
If the submitted Contribution contains any interviews, graphics, photographs or likenesses of other persons, the Contributor attests that the consent to publish said interview/photo/likeness has been obtained.
GoUK.com has no obligation to pay for Contributions unless GoUK.com specifically commissions Contributions with the Contributor by prior agreement in writing. In cases where Contributions are commissioned by GoUK.com, the Contributor must invoice GoUK.com in the correct legal form for the sum stated in the Commission agreement. The Contributor is solely responsible for all taxes due on income received and is not an employee of GoUK.com in any form whatsoever.
The Contributor expressly releases GoUK.com from and against any and all claims the Contributor may have for invasion of privacy, defamation, copyright infringement or any other cause of action arising out of the publication, distribution or reproduction of the Contribution.
The Contributor may withdraw submitted materials before acceptance by GoUK.com for publication, releasing the Contributor from the restrictions outlined herein.
The Contributor agrees to permit GoUK.com to edit the Contribution submitted for publication. The Contributor may withdraw the Contribution if he/she does not agree to the editing. If Contributors object to the edited versions of Contributions, GoUK.com will remove them on behalf of the Contributors within five working days of receiving a written request, though GoUK.com cannot be held responsible for any content held in search engine records, cache, etc.
GoUK.com has no obligation to pay for commissioned Contributions unless actually published.
The relationship of the Contributor and GoUK.com is one of independent contractor, and none of the responsibilities or benefits inherent in an employer-employee relationship, partnership or joint venture of any sort shall apply.
GoUK.com relies on Contributors to present GoUK.com with Contributions that contain accurate and factual material. GoUK.com assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of information provided on GoUK.com.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, Contributors waive any and all claims Contributors may now or later have in any jurisdiction to so-called moral rights or rights of droit moral with respect to the Contribution.
GoUK.com reserves the right to display advertisements in connection with Contributions and to use Contributions for advertising and promotional purposes.
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between GoUK.com and the Contributor and can only be amended or modified in writing, signed by both Parties.
If any provision of this Agreement is deemed invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. The waiver of a breach of any provision by either Party will not be deemed a waiver of any subsequent breach of that or any other provision.
The Contributor agrees to indemnify GoUK.com against any and all losses, costs, expenses and damages caused or arising out of the breach of representations made in this Agreement.
This Agreement shall be binding upon the executors, administrators, successors and assigns of the Contributor.
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and any and all disputes arising thereunder shall be resolved in England.

By submitting a Contribution to GoUK.com the Contributor confirms that they agree to the above terms for all Contributions submitted now and in the future and if acting on behalf of a company, agency or other legal entity that they have the right to submit the Contribution on the company’s, agency’s or other legal entity’s behalf. The Contributor certifies that he/she is over 18 years of age.
